Additional Steps to Take To Secure Your Garden Room
Installing a safe: A safe can provide a secure place to store high value items such as jewellery, cash, and important documents. Look for a safe that is fire-resistant and has a good locking mechanism. Make sure to choose the right size of safe for your items and have it anchored to the floor or wall for added security. There are different types of safes like the ones with combination lock, electronic lock, biometric lock, and smart lock etc.
Use an alarm system: An alarm system can help to deter intruders and alert you to any potential break-ins. You can even set up specific sensors to secure the area where the high value items are stored. These sensors can be in the form of motion detectors, door and window contacts, glass break detectors and more.
Reinforce windows and doors: Reinforcing windows and doors can make it more difficult for intruders to gain access to your garden room, and can also help to secure the room slow them down. Consider using reinforced glass or shatterproof film on windows, and installing deadbolts or other high-quality locks on doors. Use of heavy-duty hinges and security bars can also help to strengthen your doors and windows.
Install security cameras: Security cameras can help you to monitor the garden room, and can also provide evidence in case of a break-in. Position the cameras to have a clear secure view of the area where the high value items are stored. Choose cameras with high resolution and night vision capabilities, and also consider using a cloud-based storage system to keep the footage safe and secure.
Use motion-sensor lights: Motion-sensor lights can be a great deterrent for intruders, as they will turn on when someone is near the garden room. This can surprise and disorient an intruder, making them less likely to continue trying to break in. Use of smart lights with automation features can be useful to keep the lights on when you are away from the garden room.
Keep the garden room well-lit: good lighting can help to deter intruders, as it makes it more secure and difficult for them to hide in the shadows. Consider installing outdoor lights around the perimeter of your garden room, as well as inside the garden room.
Consider a monitored alarm service: A monitored alarm service can provide an added layer of security, as they will contact the authorities in case of an emergency. These services can also be connected to your smartphone, so you can securely monitor your garden room remotely and receive notifications of any alarm triggers.
Hide the high value items: It may sound simple, but one of the best ways to secure and protect high value items is to hide them from view. Keep them in a place where they are not easily seen from the outside, and cover them with a piece of furniture or other items. Use of hidden compartments, safes disguised as furniture or other everyday items can be useful to keep the valuable items secure and hidden.
