The Importance Of Good Garden Room Foundations
Having good garden room foundations is crucial for several reasons.
Firstly, it helps to ensure that the garden room is structurally sound and stable.
Poor garden room foundations can lead to issues such as settling, cracking, and even collapse.
This can result in significant damage to the garden room and can also be dangerous for anyone inside.
Proper garden room foundations also help to distribute the weight of the garden room evenly across the ground. This is particularly important for larger or heavier structures, such as garden rooms that have multiple floors or heavy roofing materials. This helps to prevent settling or shifting over time, which can cause cracks or other damage to the building.
Having good garden room foundations can also help to protect the building from the elements. For example, a properly built foundation can help to prevent water damage by directing water away from the building. This is especially important in areas that are prone to heavy rain or flooding.
Furthermore, having good garden room foundations can also help to insulate the building and keep it warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Insulation can help to reduce the amount of heat that is lost through the floor, which can help to keep the building more comfortable and energy-efficient.
In summary, good garden room foundations are essential for the safety, stability and longevity of a garden room. It also helps to ensure that the building is comfortable to live in and energy-efficient, protecting the building from the elements and making it a more pleasant place to spend time.
There Are Two Main Foundation Options For Garden Rooms:
1. Concrete slab: A concrete slab is a flat, level surface of poured concrete that sits on top of a compacted base of soil or gravel. The advantage of a concrete slab foundation is that is a very durable and long-lasting solution for a garden room base. However, a concrete slab can be subject to cracking and settling over time, and can be costly to install.
2. Steel pile foundations are a type of deep garden room foundation that are used to support buildings in areas where the garden room is to installed onto soil and the soil is not strong enough to support the weight of the building.
You do not need to provide a concrete slab base for our garden rooms. To save you the expense and inconvenience of having a concrete base installed, we use specially designed, concrete pile garden room foundations combined with heavy duty galvanised steel legs and plates.
The steel legs can be adjusted which means we can install our pile garden rooms foundations onto either flat or slightly uneven surfaces. Your garden room will also be raised off the ground to allow a vented space underneath. This ensures that the structure will not be affected by rising damp.
Advantages of using steel pile garden room foundations include:
Strong and durable: Steel piles are strong and durable, and they can support a lot of weight. They are also resistant to rot, decay, and insect damage.
Suitable for poor soil conditions: Steel pile garden room foundations are suitable for areas with poor soil conditions, such as soft clay or muddy ground. They can be driven deep into the ground to reach stable soil.
Flexible: Steel piles can be cut to different lengths, and they can be installed at different angles, making them adaptable to different site conditions.
Minimal disruption: Steel pile garden room foundations can be installed with minimal disruption to the surrounding area, as they do not require excavation of large amounts of soil.
Speed of installation: Steel piles can be installed relatively quickly, reducing the overall construction time.
